The Teys family has been involved in the Australian beef industry since 1946, when four Teys Brothers formed a partnership that was involved in wholesaling and retailing meat in South East Queensland.
The Teys brothers opened their first butcher shop in the Brisbane suburb of Woolloongabba in 1946, hoping to feed their families and provide food for the post-war city. Founded on the values of integrity, quality and honesty, these brothers quickly built a reputation for providing quality meat that was affordable for all.
The business soon grew with the purchase of its Beenleigh site – its first beef processing plant, and shortly after expanded into the global beef market in London, the USA and Japan. The next six decades saw exponential growth for the company, as it became one of Australia’s largest beef producers and processors and opened sales offices and processing plants around the globe.
Today, Teys Australia is a leading supplier of quality Australian beef to domestic and international food manufacturing markets. It is also one of the largest employers in regional Australia, with over 4,500 employees across its operations. The company has a strong commitment to animal welfare, environmental sustainability and the communities in which it operates.
Teys Australia understands what customers expect from beef products – great taste, consistent quality and value for money. Their Australian-bred products are subject to traceability, allowing transparency between producers and the production process. Their premium brands are backed by Meat Standards Australia (MSA) – the highest-grade of beef grading system in the world.
